Google attacks again: the Affiliate Marketers woke up last Wednesday morning to discover that hundreds or thousands of 5 and 10 cent keywords were inactivated and now Google’s system is asking for $5.00 or $10.00!
The new new “Google Slap” at Adwords that particularly targeted affiliate review sites and the affiliate marketing world is awash with panic.
So, if you use PPC or organic traffic, this is something you need to be aware of.
But before to run in panic, we need to wait in order to receive more information about this issue, but Perry Marshall, one of the most respected specialist on Google Adwords write about this problem on his blog, and he check with other specialist about it before publish this article.
The fact are: a big number of affiliate marketers that use Adwords found their landing pages that includes affiliate links, usually with a quality score of 10 (a good score) goes to 1 (a really bad score), this is the typical result for a Google Slap in general.
So, the cost per click pass from a few cents to several dollars!
What was interesting about this slap, was:
“these were NOT skinny sites, rather well build out, consistently updated blogs with good navigation above the fold, xml site maps, high click through, hyper-relevant keyword mapping, low bounce rates, long average time on page … everything else Google loves.
When we analyzed which pages survived, and we take it in combination with other information, it seems pretty clear they’ve added code which screens for affiliate links on the landing pages.”
So, affiliates must to take care of others ways to promote their links as blogs or content rich websites in order to pay a better rate per click.
Apparently Google want good quality content in every single page you advertise on Adwords.
So affiliate marketers must to work in create more rich content and value for their customers, list building and build a personal relationship if really want to make serious money on line.
The good news are:
1) The Content Network is not affected by the Google Slap 2
2) The Organic Traffic is not affected neither, because you don’t pay for Organic Traffic.
